Muzaffar Abdurakhmanov (Tashknet, Uzbekistan) and Josh Glenn (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City) advanced to the Championship finals on Saturday to lead the American University wrestling team at the EIWA Tournament hosted by Lehigh. The Eagles currently sit in eighth place among teams as four wrestlers are still in contention going into day two Sunday.

"Our horses came through and our young guys struggled," head coach Mark Cody said in summarizing the day.

At 165, Abdurakhmanov got a first-round bye and dismantled his second round opponent, No. 7 seed Lior Zamir of Penn with a win by fall in 1:36. In the semifinals Abdurakhmanov dropped Navy's Dziewiatkowski 9-5, scoring four takedowns and an escape with his only points coming from cutting his opponent loose. He'll be facing No. 4 seed Stephen Anceravage from Cornell in the finals. Anceravage scored the upset of the day in the semifinals, beating No. 1 seed of Lehigh Troy Letters, 5-3.

"Muzaffar just wrestled great," Cody noted. "He's solid and I think a lot of the strategy is the same against him as it Josh. [His opponents] just try and keep it close and try and sneak one in there at the end. Muzaffar did not allow that to happen."
