Uzbekistan Foreign Ministry: government supports China in Taiwan question

The Uzbekistan government completely supports Chinese position in Taiwan question, fixed in Joint communiqué on establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and China signed on January 2, 1992, and on partnership agreement and cooperation between two countries signed on May 25, 2005, as a REGNUM correspondent has been informed on March 4 in Uzbekistan Foreign Ministry press office. It also noted, that "the Chinese government is the only legal government on all Chinese territorial, and Taiwan is an integral part of the Chinese territory."

The ministry also noted that Uzbekistan condemns all attempts regarding creation of "Two Chinas" or "one China and one Taiwan", decision of cessation of National Unification Council and "Program of national unification", and denies all actions, against Chinese activity in this question.

As the ministry's spokesperson noted, this position was stated on March 3 by Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Elyor Ganiyev during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador in Uzbekistan Gao Yusheng. "At the meeting, the sides confirmed willingness to further improve mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in political, economical, trade, humanitarian and other spheres," stressed the press office.
