Djalilov angered despite victory

AFC Champions League
April 26

Mash'al moved into contention for a place in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League with a 2-1 win over an under-strength Al Hilal but coach Viktor Djalilov was unhappy with Bahrain referee Abdulhameed Ebrahim after seeing two of his players sent off in the final minutes of the game.

Al Hilal coach Kleber was so disappointed by the defeat he refused to attend the post-match press conference.

There were a lot of things that the referee did not see. There was hand ball in the Al Hilal penalty area on three occasions but the referee did not see it. This is the Asian style of refereeing.

But I'm happy with our performance. Our players tried to do their best and we created many chances. Finally we converted enough of these chances. I'm happy with our win especially because it was our first home win.

I understand that in the next match we will miss three players. But the team does not consist of just 11 players and missing three is not a problem for us.

In the last ten minutes our players were very, very nervous and some of them made serious mistakes. I could understand behavior of teenager Jahongir Jiyamuradov who is too young, but I could not accept behavior of experienced Komoliddin Kenjayev who also was sent off.

The struggle for first place in our group is just starting now. Mashal and Al Ain both have seven points and Al Hilal are only one point behind. Everything will be decided in the matches between Al Hilal and Al Ain and between Al Ain and Mashal. We still have a chance but we are still not favorites in our group.
