Uzbekistan and Pakistan to cement economic ties

Pakistan and Uzbekistan on Tuesday agreed to leverage the economic potentials through enhanced cooperation in the field of agriculture and investment sectors.

A meeting between the visiting team from Uzbekistan led by Buritosh Mustafaev minister of justice Uzbekistan and secretary ministry of food agriculture and livestock (MINFAL) Ismail Qureshi agreed to enhance cooperation in agriculture, livestock, marketing, agriculture research extension and transfer of technology for the benefit of the two countries.

Ismail Qureshi said our president will be visiting Uzbekistan in near future and the Uzbek president is also coming to Pakistan. He said the exchanges of these high level visits would further boost the cooperation in the fields of agriculture, trade and investment sectors and help bring the people of the two countries more closer to each other.

During the visits MoUs would also be signed especially in the agriculture and livestock sectors. He said Pak-Uzbekistan Joint Ministerial Commission was held in Tashkent last December after a gap of thirteen years. Mr Mustafaev said his country was keen to boost the bilateral relation with Pakistan. He highlighted the agriculture potentials and opportunities in the sector. He said 37 joint venture projects are already working in Uzbekistan.
