International AirportUzbekistan President Islam Karimov arrived Sunday night for a three-day visit aimed at boosting ties between the Central Asian country and Malaysia.
He was met on arrival at the KL International Airport by Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is minister-in-attendance during the visit.
Monday, Karimov will officially be welcomed in a ceremony at Parliament Square in Kuala Lumpur to be attended by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail.
In the afternoon, he will hold talks with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in Putrajaya.
Several memoranda of understanding are slated to be signed between the two countries in conjunction with the visit, covering areas such as air services, tourism, joint trade committee and mineral resources development.
