Global Uzbek Council holds an Uzbek cultural event in Washington

Global Uzbek Council is holding its first public event in Washington, DC on December 10 - "An Evening of Uzbek Culture in Washington". The event will take place at American University. A number of US government officials, members of Congress, analysts from think-tank institutions, members of other US and international organizations and GUC members are expected to attend the event.
"An Evening of Uzbek Culture in Washington" will include an interactive presentation on history of Uzbekistan and the region, classical dance performances by People's Artist of Uzbekistan Dilafruz Jabbarova and Laurel Gray's "Silk Road Dance Company", an Uzbek art exhibition and sales of crafts, and a reception with traditional Uzbek cuisine.
Following the reception, a night of Uzbek dance music will be offered to the guests and patrons of the event.

Part of the funds raised during the event will be sent to an orphanage in the Aral Sea region of Karakalpakstan.
Global Uzbek Council is a not-for-profit organization established in Washington, DC this July by a group of Uzbek professionals to promote educational, charitable, and cultural activities for the benefit of socio-economic development of Uzbekistan. The organization accounts for nearly 100 active members in more than ten countries. They are bankers, lawyers, economists, journalists and students and other Uzbek professionals eager to contribute to development of Uzbekistan.
