Uzbekistan increased extract of gas, though decreased oil production

KAZINFORM November 12 During January – August of 2004 extract of natural gas in Uzbekistan amounted to 39.68 billion cubic meters, what is 5.2 percent more than last year, our correspondent has learnt from the data of Uzbekistan’s State Committee on statistics.During this period the national holding company Uzbekneftegas, the only producer of hydrocarbons in Uzbekistan, extracted 39,680,000,000 cubic meters of natural gas, whereas last year during the analogous period it produced 37,719,000,000. Meantime oil production has sunk by 2.9 percent. During January-August of 2004 the country produced 2,801,000 tonnes.
