Federal minister for economic cooperation and development of Germany visits Uzbekistan

A delegation headed by Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul, the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, visited Uzbekistan on May 9.

German delegation met with Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Elyor Ganiev on Sunday and the sides discussed the current trade relations between Germany and Uzbekistan.

The volume of commodity exchange between the two countries equaled about 335 million US dollars in 2003, increasing by 33,1 percent that of 2002.

Uzbekistan and Germany cooperate in health sphere, too. Since 2000, within the framework of DOTS program, Germany has completed three projects worth of 7,5 million euro.

According to Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul, Germany will award additional 2,5 million euro to obtain medical equipment for tuberculosis treatment.
