Universum Box-Promotion added another former amateur star to it’s professional boxing stable in Hamburg. Heavyweight Ruslan Chagaev, a two time amateur world champion from Uzbekistan, will now be fighting for the German promoter.

The 25-year-old Chagaev is already 6-0-1 with 5 knockouts as a professional. His single draw comes from a fight against Rob Calloway where the bout was stopped because of a cut that Calloway suffered from an accidental head butt. Shortly before the stoppage Calloway (43-3) received a standing-8 count and was seconds away from getting stopped..

Since turning pro in 1997 Chagaev has been living in Los Angeles but with the change of boxing stables the skilful southpaw will now move to Northern Germany’s Hamburg. Despite being only 6-foot-1 tall Chagaev is a flull fledged heavyweight who weighed 235 3/4 pounds in his last pro fight on 22nd May in the state of NY.

Chagaev became famous when he beat Cuban amateur boxing legend Felix Savon in the heavyweight finals of the world championships in 1997. Four years later Chagaev became amateur world champion at super heavyweight.

Chagaev will step into the ring for Universum Box-Promotion for the first time on November 18 on a Spotlight Boxing event in Hamburg.
