Auto production in Uzbekistan up 9% in nine months

November 4Automobile production by enterprises of Uzavtoprom, Uzbekistan's association of automakers, increased production by 9.1% in the first nine months of the year to 29,144 automobiles, a source in the state statistics department told Interfax.
Production in September totaled 3,490 automobiles, up 43.2% from September 2002.
Car production at UzDaewooAuto grew 9.1% in the first nine months of the year to 28,964 cars.
Production of Damas models totaled 5,260, up 6% year-on-year, production of Tico cars totaled 3,566, down 0.2%, production of Nexia cars totaled 17,402, up 49.4%, and production of Matiz models totaled 2,856, down 59.4%. UzDaewooAuto in September began producing the new Lacetti car. It has produced 150 so far.
Production at SamKocAuto totaled 180 vehicles, up 22.4% year-on- year. Bus production was up 297% to 179 buses and the company produced one truck, down from 9 in the same period last year.
Uzavtoprom enterprises produced parts worth 26.662 billion sum, up 41.5% from the same period last year.
