Uzbekistan wins to book AFC U-20 and U-17 final round tickets

Uzbekistan joined 13 other teams in the final rounds of next year’s Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-20 Championship, Malaysia 2004 when they defeated Bhutan 5-0 in a Group 6 qualifier.

The win ensured Uzbekistan’s appearance in the final rounds and finished the group with a perfect record of two out of two wins, with no goals conceded.

Marat Bikmoev starred for his team’s impressive performance with a two-goal performance yesterday. Bikmoev also plays for the senior national team and AFC Champions League semi finalists Pakhtakor in the Uzbekistan league.

Abbos Abdullaev (two) and Ijodkhodja Azizkhodjaev completed the Uzbekistan score sheet in Tashkent.

A total of 15 teams from the 15 groups in the qualifying rounds will join host Malaysia in next year’s AFC U-20 Championship. Korea Republic are the defending champions.

The teams that have qualified for the AFC U-20 Championship final rounds are hosts Malaysia, Qatar, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, IR Iran, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Japan, Korea Republic and China.

Uzbekistan made it a double when their U-17 squad also qualified for the AFC U-17 Championship, Japan 2004 when they defeated Bhutan 6-0 to finish top of Group 7 in the qualifiers.
