Islam Karimov appoints new Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan

Sadyk Safaev has been appointed a new Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan by the latest presidential decree issued on 14 March, Akhborot reported.

By another decree Abdulaziz Komilov has been relieved from his current post due to transfer to another job.

Prior to appointment as a Foreign Minister, Sadyk Safaev, 49, has held a position of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. Mr. Safaev had already been appointed as a Foreign Minister once before and held his post until1993. He had also served as an Uzbek Ambassador to the USA and Germany.

Abdulaziz Komilov, who held a post of an Uzbek Foreign Minister for the past ten years, was appointed as a State Advisor to President of Uzbekistan.
