Uzbek presidential advisor on economic issues replaced
UzLand.Uz
June 12It became known on Tuesday 10 June that Uzbek President Islam Karimov's advisor for social and economic issues, Vyacheslav Golyshev, had left his post. However, he has not gone too far. He has become a deputy.
Saidahmad Rahimov, who previously held the post of chairman of Uzbekistan's accounts chamber, has been appointed a new state advisor.
Motives for replacing Golyshev are not clear yet. He has been working in this post since August of 1996. This is the second sensational event in Uzbekistan's political life. The first one took place in November 1998 when one of the most influential politicians, Ismoil Jorabekov, who was first deputy prime minister at that time, was unexpectedly removed from his post. The Uzbek media have not reported on this so far. The local press never reports on reshuffles in the president's administration.
