Uzbekistan forecasts budget deficit of 0.8%

Uzbekistan's finance ministry forecast a budget deficit of 0.8% of GDP in 2003. The approved budget deficit target is 183.5 billion sum or 2% of GDP, the ministry told Interfax. Uzbekistan had a deficit of 0.8% in 2002 also. The approved deficit for 2004 is 1% of GDP. The official rate was 978.85 sum/$1 on December 19.
