Uzbekistan plans to commission power-generating unit in 2004

December 17The state-owned company Uzbekenergo is planning to commission the first 800 megawatt power unit of the Talimarjan power plant in 2004, a source in the company leadership has told Interfax.
The installation of equipment is nearing completion and the power unit may be commissioned in the second half of next year.
The total cost of the power unit construction is about $40 million. The project is being partially financed with a $33.85 million loan from Britain's Ansol Ltd.
The Talimarjan facility is the first major power plant to be built in Uzbekistan in 10 years. It will eventually have four 800-megawatt units.
