Uzbek authorities raid illegal soft drinks plant in capital

An illegal soft-drinks bottling plant has been found in a search by Uzbek National Security Service in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, the Uzbek web site UzReport.com said on 16 October.

"The illegal plant was lately producing 2,5000 bottles of the laundered drinks of Fanta, Coca-Cola, Sprite and other popular brands a month. The drinks were bottled in dirty containers," the web site said.

"The illegal plant was set up by two men living in Tashkent - Avaz R, born in 1975, with a criminal record, and Dilshod Kh, born in 1974. They bottled the drinks in a multistorey building flat in Yunusabad District of Tashkent," the reported added.

Equipment for bottling alcohol drinks, the large amount of corks and labels for the Russian brand of vodka Rodnik, as well as excise stamps were also seized during the raid, the report said.
