ITAR-TASS
October 10> The European Bank of Reconstruction and Development is ready to grant Uzbekistan a credit of thirty million U.S. dollars for the modernization and repair of the heating system of Tashkent, the republic's capital. This loan, according to a trustworthy source in the bank's office here, will be granted as part and parcel of the existing 40 million dollars project.
According to the said source, this project obliges the Uzbek side to set up in the capital a private enterprise, whose duty will be to modernize the Tashkent heating system within the next three years.
The European Bank of Reconstruction and Development had previously granted to Uzbekistan a credit to reconstruct the heating and hot water supply systems in Andizhan, the largest regional center of the republic. It then allocated 27.5 million U.S. dollars for this purpose.
