Kim Min-suk won the 50-meter freestyle and gave his country its first gold medal in the pool at the Asian Games. So did Ravil Nachaev.

Kim thrilled his South Korean hometown crowd when he tied the sprint with Uzbekistan's Nachaev in a time of 22.86 seconds. It was the only race of the 27-event meet that was not won by Asian swimming heavyweights China or Japan.
