A protocol on the exchange of instruments of ratification of a consular agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has been signed at the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.

The protocol was signed by Uzbek First Deputy Foreign Minister Sodiq Safoyev and the Pakistani ambassador to Uzbekistan Mohammad Akhtar Tufail.

The consular agreement, signed by the two countries' foreign ministers in Pakistan in January 2001, is directed at tackling consular issues and regulating the giving of rights and privileges to consular officials, Uzbek Foreign Ministry's Jahon news agency reported.
