A delegation lead by the assistant US secretary of defence for counternarcotics , Andre Hollis, has been received at the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The first deputy interior minister, Bahodir Matlubov, held talks with the delegation. The US Defence Ministry has a detachment which fights against the spread of narcotics and for this reason the conversation was mainly about developing and deepening relations in this particular field.

Matlubov told the guests about the ministry's structure and main fields of work and paid special attention to everything which was connected with the fight against drug smuggling.

The American side expressed readiness to provide all-round assistance to the country's Interior Ministry for equipping technically the detachments fighting drug smuggling and training their staff in the use of modern methods of fighting against the smuggling of narcotics.
