Uzbek leader elected head of new Central Asian Cooperation Organizatoin

zbek President Islam Karimov has been elected chairman of the Central Asian Cooperation Organization (CACO).
Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov said in Almaty today that the CACO member states had taken this decision at a summit held in the former Kazakh capital on the same day.
As has been reported, at this summit, the sides signed an agreement to set up CACO. CACO, formed from the former Central Asian Economic Community, comprises Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
