NATO committee holding meeting in Uzbek capital

ATO and Uzbekistan should advance their cooperation in the spheres of science and environment, as well as protecting people from man-made and natural disasters, NATO Assistant Secretary-General for Scientific and Environmental Affairs Jean Fournet told journalists in Tashkent.
The NATO Scientific Committee opened its session in Tashkent on Thursday [13 June]. The session is being attended by 60 leading experts from NATO members.
Fournet said that NATO and Uzbekistan are making good progress in defence projects and joint exercises and training programmes. There is also a very promising project in the sphere of military planning, as well as a number of other bilateral programmes, he said.
