Uzbek president, Russian deputy premier discuss economic cooperation

rade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia totals 1bn dollars, according to Uzbek President Islam Karimov, who cited this figure at a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko on Friday [5 July].
The presidential administration has told Interfax that the two men found economic cooperation between their countries dynamic and noted that still closer cooperation would be mutually advantageous.
Karimov stressed that the two nations have enough potential for boosting their trade. He also confirmed that Uzbekistan and Russia were cooperating economically, as well as politically, scientifically and socially, and that this cooperation was vigorous.
Uzbekistan is in fourth place among the CIS countries in trade turnover with Russia (18 per cent).
