n January 27, Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Komilov and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Elizabeth Jones initialed a political declaration that will be signed in Washington during President Karimov's upcoming visit to the United States.
The political declaration accompanies the Joint Security Cooperation Consultations that will be held in Tashkent during January 28-29. These consultations are in recognition of the qualitatively new and mutually beneficial relationship between the United States and Uzbekistan as demonstrated by Uzbekistan's participation in the international coalition against terrorism. The political declaration covers a broad range of areas including political, economic, military, humanitarian, democracy and human rights issues.
