The first cargo ship carrying Uzbek cotton left Kazakhstan's Aktau sea port (on the Caspian coast), Khabar Television reported on 19 December.

Transport workers regard this easily-inflammable cargo as the most capricious one to ship. However, major world companies fight for the right to do so. The Kazakh cargo shippers' fight for Uzbekistan's cotton transportation market has ended in victory.

Previously, Uzbek cotton used to be shipped to countries in the Persian Gulf by railway through Turkmenistan.

The first consignment left for (Iran's) Bandar-e Abbas port on an Iranian ship. For Kazakhstan, this is extra transit freight. Three national companies were involved in this: Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Railways), KazTransService (Kazakh transport service) and Aktau sea port.
