December 12A 24-year-old man from Uzbekistan – living in the United States with a visa – is lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail after he was arrested on charges relating to Internet credit fraud.
Valijon Bobokulov of Antioch, Tenn., is charged with receiving stolen property. Federal authorities, including the Immigration Naturalization Service, FBI and the Secret Service, are pursuing federal charges.
According to a Kentucky State Police report, Bobokulov was arrested in Thoroughbred Shopping Center at 1 p.m. Friday after he picked up merchandise valued over $600, which was ordered using a Scottsville woman’s debit card. When arrested, Bobokulov was found to be in possession of credit card information belonging to more than 20 people throughout the United States.
Bobokulov, who is married and has one child, is currently unemployed. He is claiming to be indigent, which means he will be represented by a public defender. His wife is presently employed, according to court records.
On Wednesday, Bobokulov appeared before District Judge Sam Potter Jr. for a bond hearing. Potter ruled that he was a potential flight risk and raised his bond from $100,000 to $1 million.
