Uzbekistan wins second Asian Kurash championship New Delhi

The second Asian Kurash championship ended here on Tuesday with Uzbekistan emerging champion and Iran standing second.

According to an IRNA reporter, in the tournament Iranian players Ali Reza Saniee and Ahmad Iffati, in the category of 90 kg and above, both got gold medals.

Ahmad Iffati (above 90 kg) on Tuesday afternoon in the final contest defeated Uzbekistan rival Churif and received the gold medal. In this category, an Indian player became third.

Ali Reza Saniee, in the 90 kg category and in the final round, defeated his Japanese rival and received the gold medal. In this category, the Mongolian player ranked third.

In the tournament teams from 14 countries including Iran, Uzbekistan, Japan, Korea, Khazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sri Lanka, South Korea and others participated.

Ahmad Iffati was chosen "best player" and was awarded $500 from Delhi's sports minister.

In the 66 kg category, players from Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan stood first, second and third, respectively.

Also in the 73 kg category, the players from Uzbekistan, Mongolia and India emerged first, second and third, respectively.
