Uzbekistan to attend ECO environment ministers meeting in Tehran

December 9The first meeting of environment ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) environmental ministers summit will be held in Tehran on December 15.
At the upcoming meet, the environmental protection program of Tehran will be approved by the environment minsters of the ten eco member states who are expected to attend it.
The meeting will be presided over by Iran's Vice-President and Head of Department of Environment (DoE), Masoumeh Ebtekar.
The ECO environment meeting will be attended by representatives from United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank and the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).
Moreover, Energy Charter, Persian Gulf Regional Environmental Protection Department, the Caspian Sea Environmental Program, Ramsar Convention, and the Asian and Pacific Economic and Social Cooperation Organization will also be represented at the summit.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the `friendship sapling' is expected to be cultivated by the ECO member states environment ministers at Pardisan Park as a symbol of friendship.
Many agreements on joint environmental cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan are also expected to be signed on the sidelines of the upcoming gathering.
ECO member states consist of Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan Republic.
