August 29The president of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, will make an official visit to Kazakhstan in the first half of September.
"The visit of the Uzbek leader to Kazakhstan is expected after the Johannesburg summit on sustainable development," an informed source in the diplomatic circles told Interfax-Kazakhstan.
The source noted that the Uzbek head of state would hold talks with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, and that the signing of several documents was expected, including a final agreement on the delimitation of the Kazakh-Uzbek state border.
To date 96 per cent of the border, which is 2,100 km long, has been demarcated.
The sides agreed during the signing of a relevant agreement on the border in November last year that border lines in three disputed areas would be determined within a period of six months after that. But this question has not been resolved by the parties as yet.
