Uzbek customs officers confiscate nearly 500 weapons in nine months

uring the first nine months of the year customs officers prevented the illegal transit of psychotropic drugs in the form of 262,000 pills, nearly 500 weapons and 1,100 copies of religious extremist literature, the Uzbek newspaper Mulkdor reported on 26 October.
It added that amongst other things, customs officers had confiscated 835.3 litres of oil products, 302.9 tonnes of mineral fertilizers, 272.5 t of nonferrous metal, 513.3 kg of silver, 4.2 kg of gold artefacts and 262,100 dollars. The report did not specify where the items were confiscated.
