Two people injured in shooting incident on Kazakh-Uzbek border

n Uzbek border guard has opened fire from an assault rifle on a Zhiguli [Lada] car which did not stop on his demand while crossing the Kazakh-Uzbek border.
A source in the Internal Affairs Directorate of South Kazakhstan Region told an Interfax-Kazakhstan correspondent that the incident had taken place on 17 October at the Saryagash border post [north of Tashkent].
The source said that a man and a woman in the car were wounded as a result of the shooting. The woman was wounded in the back of her head and it was unknown what injuries the man had sustained.
The source said the car with the wounded driver and passenger was stopped by Kazakh customs officers who gave them first aid.
