UN, foreign envoys present credentials to Uzbek president

he new UN envoy, Richard Conroy, and the new Swiss, Kuwaiti, Bangladeshi and North Korean ambassadors to Uzbekistan presented their credentials to Uzbek President Islam Karimov on 28 November.
The president received the Swiss ambassador, Wilhelm Meier; the Kuwaiti ambassador, Walid Ahmed al-Kadari; the Bangladeshi ambassador, [A.B.M.] Abdus Salam; the North Korean ambassador, Li Chol Gwan; and the UN envoy to Uzbekistan, Richard Conroy, at his residence in Tashkent.
Richard Conroy recalled that all UN missions had been actively operating in Uzbekistan over the past few years, and said that the United Nations was considering a review of its policy in favour of stepping up its activities in Uzbekistan further.
Richard Conroy also said that Uzbekistan is playing a key role in resolving regional problems and, above all, in ensuring security.
