EBRD to loan 100 million euros to Uzbekistan for railroad modernization

resident of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Jean Lemierre has arrived in Uzbekistan.
The delegation will meet with representatives of the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank in Tashkent and study the progress of the TACIS program, sources in the Tashkent EBRD office told Interfax on Monday.
Meetings with businessmen and foreign ambassadors are also planned for Monday.
On Tuesday, November 13, Lemierre will meet with President Islam Karimov, the finance minister and the Central Bank governor.
The EBRD has invested 570 million euros in 15 projects in Uzbekistan, the sources said.
The visit may result in the signing of an agreement on a 100 million euro loan for modernization of Uzbekistan's railroad and heating system.
