Russia's Putin talks to Uzbekistan's leader ahead of US visit

President Vladimir Putin and Uzbek President Islam Karimov during a Monday [12 November] telephone conversation discussed practical interaction in the framework of the antiterrorist coalition and plans for a post-crisis political settlement in Afghanistan.

Putin's press service told Interfax that the two presidents discussed the subjects as part of the regular confiding dialogue that is developing. The press service said the conversation took place before Putin's departure for the United States.
