US State Department official meets Uzbekistan on Afghan strikes

nited States Assistant Secretary of State B. Lynn Pasoe arrived in Uzbekistan on Wednesday to discuss the US- led bombing campaign on neighbouring Afghanistan with Uzbek government officials.
Pascoe is scheduled on Thursday to meet Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdul Aziz Kamilov and Security Council chief Mirakbar Rakhmankolov.
He said Uzbekistan's contribution to the US-led coalition was valued highly. US troops involved in military operations in Afghanistan are stationed on Uzbek territory.
"I see this as the start of our cooperation in the fight against terror and the destruction of terrorism," Pascoe told a news conference in the Uzbek capital Tashkent.
Pascoe was in Tashkent as part of a tour of Central Asia and the Caucasus region. He has already visited Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan and is due to fly to Turkmenistan on Thursday.
