Uzbek capital to host annual session of EBRD council 4-6 May 2003

The Uzbek capital, Tashkent, is to host an annual session of the EBRD [European Bank for Reconstruction and Development] council of managing directors on 4-6 May 2003.

A Cabinet of Ministers resolution to this effect orders measures to prepare and hold the EBRD' annual session, the newspaper report said. The document appoints Prime Minister Otkir Sultonov chairman of the organizing committee and "places it in charge of implementing the set of measures necessary to prepare and hold the annual session of the EBRD council of managing directors in 2003 at a high level".

In an effort to make Uzbekistan more attractive to investors, the organizing committee has been made responsible for devising and implementing planned measures for 2002-2003 to market, advertise and promote through the foreign media and on the Internet Uzbekistan's investment potential, the favourable investment climate created in the country, the nation's rich historical and spiritual heritage and its unique architectural and cultural monuments.
