he Russian administration "does not plan" stationing frontier guards in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, head of General Staff of the Federal Frontier Service Colonel-General Nikolay Reznichenko said today at the press conference in Moscow.
The General Staff did not receive proposals from Uzbek and Turkmen administrations on establishing frontier units and stationing frontier guards’ bases on the territory of afore-named states. "As soon as this proposal is received, representatives of the General Staff will leave for these states for negotiations," Reznichenko said. The Colonel-General reminded that in Tajikistan the border unit of Russian Federal Frontier Service, established for Tajik-Afghan border protection successfully operates. Besides, the budget-2002 foresees financing the troops stationed in Dushanbe.
