Uzbekistan is ready to cooperate with Russia in delivering humanitarian cargo to Afghanistan, said Uzbek Emergencies Minister Gen-Maj Ravshan Khaydarov, speaking exclusively to ITAR-TASS.

He said that "this would become possible if the operational situation on the Uzbek-Afghan border were favourable". Khaydarov stressed that "every cargo delivery to the other bank of the Amu Darya River which connects Uzbekistan and Afghanistan will be considered separately when our colleagues from the Russian Emergencies Ministry address us officially".

Khaydarov added that "at present the possibility of a cargo delivery is ruled out until the situation on the territory neighbouring Uzbekistan gets more stable as there is no confidence that humanitarian aid will be delivered to those for whom it is intended".
