tarting from 1 November 2001, the Uzbek Central Bank has set up the
following value of the Uzbek som in relation to foreign currencies for
conducting accounting, statistical and other work on currency operations as
well as for customs and other compulsory payments. In accordance with this,
the rate of the som is set at 680.90 soms to the dollar. But in setting the value of the currency, the Uzbek Central Bank is not committing itself to buying or selling currency at that rate. [The official rate of the Uzbek som was set at 433.7 to the dollar on 29 Oct 01].
