Iran-Uzbekistan to cooperate in fight against drugs

The Secretary-General of the Drug Control Headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Fallah, arrived here on Friday [21 December] to help materialize the agreements reached between Iran and Uzbekistan on anti-drug struggle.

Upon arrival in the Uzbek capital city, he told IRNA that expansion of anti-drug cooperation between the two countries and implementation of the agreements already signed by the two sides are among major objectives of his visit.

Since both Iran and Uzbekistan share joint borders with the war-torn Afghanistan, exchange of experiences in the area of anti-drug campaign between the two countries is of great importance, he added.

During his one-week visit to Uzbekistan, Fallah is to meet the Uzbek health minister and inspect rehabilitation centres for drug addicts in this country.
