Uzbek-Russian trade turnover 20 per cent up in 2001

zbek-Russian trade turnover grew by 20 per cent in 2001 year on year to 1.2bn dollars, which accounts for 18-20 per cent of Uzbekistan's total trade turnover, the head of the Uzbek office of the Russian Centre for International Scientific and Cultural Cooperation, Vladimir Polozkov said.
Russia is Uzbekistan's largest trade and economic partner, Polozkov said.
Russia is interested in Uzbek cotton and textiles and Uzbekistan is interested in industrial and medial equipment and timber and other building materials from Russia.
Joint projects have been planned to manufacture household equipment, electric motors, spare parts for agricultural machinery, pumps and cars in Uzbekistan.
