Maj-Gen Ravshan Khaydarov, Uzbek Minister for Emergencies, told ITAR-TASS today in an exclusive interview that his ministry will conclude agreements with a number of countries soon on deliveries of humanitarian goods to Afghanistan.

The Uzbek minister pointed out that many countries are prepared to provide humanitarian aid for Afghanistan but, in view of the fact that they lack their representative offices on its territory, request Uzbekistan to assist in the delivery of aid supplies.

In particular, requests came in recently from France, Japan, Turkey and a number of nongovernmental international organizations. Khaydarov emphasised that the United Nations Organization will become the guarantor for countries which are planning to sign such agreements.

Uzbekistan intends to reduce to the minimum all formalities in customs and border procedures on the Afghan-Uzbek border during the delivery of humanitarian supplies to Afghanistan.
