The government of Uzbekistan has made a decision to simplify customs and border crossing procedures for humanitarian cargoes going to Afghanistan, the Minister for Emergency Situations Ravshan Haydarov told TASS Wednesday [12 December].

He said the government had empowered his ministry to minimize formalities in delivering relief aid to the Afghan people.

The Uzbek Emergency Situations Ministry has drawn a time- table of supplies from the border city of Termez to Afghanistan.

Haydarov said that the ministry had established a special relief aid coordination unit for making the delivery of aid to Afghanistan smooth and steady.

"Foods and warm clothes are being delivered from Uzbekistan to the Afghan bank of the Amudarya river at the moment," he said.
