Uzbekistan's President Islam Karimov told journalists here today that Tashkent urged the competent agencies of the Czech Republic to extradite Mohammad Solih, one of the leaders of the "Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan" criminal organization.

More than five years ago, Solih fled Uzbekistan, seeking to avoid prosecution for a series of crimes, including participation in the terrorist acts staged in the Uzbek capital in February 1999 when about 20 people were killed and more than 100 injured. Solih was put on a Wanted circular. He was recently arrested by Interpol personnel in Prague.
