Customs officers in Uzbek capital region thwart smuggling

Atotal of 2,695 violations of customs regulations were reported in Uzbek capital Tashkent Region last year, illegal smuggling of goods worth 1.75bn soms was prevented and 137 criminal cases were opened.

During the first 10 months of this year 2,376 violations of customs regulations were registered, goods worth over 1bn soms were confiscated and 172 criminal proceedings were launched,

Since the beginning of this year the illegal export of 80 t of grain, almost 43 t of sugar, over 19 t of confectionery, 239 heads of cattle, more than 130 t of oil and lubricants, about 47 t of nonferrous metals, 518 t of construction materials - mainly cement - 56.7 t of mineral fertilizers and 36,700 dollars has been prevented.
