ressing issues of coordinating the forces of all government bodies and
organizational structures in [south-western] Bukhara and [southern]
Kashkadarya regions and organizing their cooperation in protecting and
guarding the country's state borders have been discussed at a meeting held
at the Regional headquarters of South-Western Frontier Forces.
The meeting heard reports on the current geopolitical situation in Central
Asia, the internal political situations in the countries bordering on
Uzbekistan, anticipated changes in the situation in 2001 and likely
developments.
The participants in the meeting were acquainted with the main points of a
resolution on protecting and guarding the state borders of the Republic of
Uzbekistan in 2001 and its essence. It provides for the introduction of
border zone regimes in some districts of Bukhara and Kashkadarya regions.
This means that those invited to the meeting should coordinate their joint
activities and strengthen close ties.
It was also noted that separate local
government bodies in various areas and District and town administrations
should pay due attention to the formation of Chegara Posbonlari [Frontier
Guards] detachments, to selecting specialists for them and creating all the
necessary conditions for the guards to keep the border areas under control.
